Scott Cook is one of fourteen acts to appear at the 2022 Falcon Ridge Folk Festival Thursday Night Music Stage.

There’s something about Scott Cook that makes you feel like you’ve known him forever. His authenticity comes through in his lyrics and in his in-between song banter when you experience him live. His musicianship is impeccable and his performance style is warm, witty, and wise. He’s the kind of guy you want on your team, no matter what you’re playing. I bet he’s good as good at trivia as he is at “Name That Tune.” But that’s not either here nor there. Scott’s inherent humaneness is unmistakable. It’s the little things that speak volumes to me, as a frequent concert goer, talent buyer, and blogger. Scott goes out of his way to sing songs by “friends.” Sure, he sings his own songs but he wants his audience to take notice of his friends’ songs so that they can share a little bit of his spotlight when he plays. As R&R Magazine says: “He sings his heart and soul, and in doing so lets light flood into your own… Truly one of Woody Guthrie’s children.” It’s that light of his that shines through again and again. Scott’s music gives us hope and we’re all in desperate need of that right now.

Residing in the farflung province of Alberta in Canada does not deter Scott from traveling elsewhere. Despite the pandemic, Scott came “south” and played live and streaming shows out of his van, often bringing in his friends to sing along. You can check the videos out on Scott’s YouTube channel. Scott does have a way with words and the last two albums have included booklets that include his thoughts on the universe as well as touring life. Scott outdid himself with his latest release, Tangle of Souls, by producing a 240-page hardcover book as part of the packaging. Unheard of! There’s even a section that teaches you how to play his songs.
