Yesterday evening I had the pleasure of enjoying some terrific music at Crocker Park overlooking Marblehead Harbor. It was the klckoff evening of the annual Marblehead Festival of the Arts. Brian Wheeler always books some great talent for these concerts and this was no exception. I’ve been a Mark Erelli fan for many years and we’ve hosted him at the me&thee coffeehouse right up the street on many occasions. Mark had no idea that we had such a lovely harbor two blocks from the coffeehouse because he’s always just headed over to Mugford Street!
Mark played with Zachariah Hickman on bass and Charlie Rose on lapsteel and banjo.
Mark played two sets covering much of his career but focused on some of the newer songs from “Little Vigils” and “Delivered.” Since both Zack and Charlie are in the bluegrass tinged band Barnstar along with Mark, they added some tunes from their new CD “C’mon!” The crowd seemed to love those songs. I worked merch for Mark and I can testify that he made many new fans.
Great venue!
